A good coffee, not as full a flavour as some of their other coffees but a decent coffee

Really nice coffee. I usually go for chocolatey and full bodied with milk. This one is really flavoursome and has made me drink it black to get all the flavours. Really nice flavour.

My wife has spent ages looking for a mild decaf coffee and loves this blend from Peru, to quote "if you are looking for a very drinkable coffee this is it."

I thought this coffee was pretty good. I did not like it as much as others on here but it was fairly good.

These are some quality beans with a taste very similar to the description. They're my first order on this site and after finishing the bag I'm definitely buying from here again.

I really enjoyed this coffee. Although full of flavour it was extremely smooth and drinkable - Esprersso.

There should be a law against this one. I'm sure I've had this one before but whether I reviewed it I can't recall. I can't talk like a wine ponce about coffee, you know, pebbled in the rain, grazed apricots and a hint of vanilla. This one is a gob full of rich brown coffee flavour. The reason it shouldn't be allowed is because you finish one cup and you're straight back to the machine for another cup, and another... Top marks.

Brewed in an Aeropress with water at 85C and drunk with no additions. Ordered 2 packs and may order again, was not quite as full bodies as I had hoped, but floral/perfume tones evident.

Additional Information

La Cooperativa Naranjillo have worked their magic on this coffee to create an absolute show-stopper.

Founded in 1964 by 32 farmers in the Naranjillo region of Peru. The cooperative was founded in response to the excessively low prices the farmers traditionally received for their cocoa and coffee crops.

Cooperative members are distributed between three departments, Huanuco, San Martin and Ucayali, and each one has its own coffee warehouse and branch office. This large, active cooperative has developed several committees that manage not only the production and sale of coffee, but also promote the health, education and socio-economic development of the organization’s members.

The success of the cooperative can be measured by its astonishing growth--adding 1,500 members in 2 years.

Repair of Machinery

Naranjillo elected to invest the premiums paid for their coffee in the repair of industrial machinery that had become damaged over time, thereby allowing the cooperative to increase efficiency and product quality.

Seed Bank for Crop Diversification

The cooperative has established a seed bank to encourage the diversification of agricultural production and provide additional methods to improve the income of members and their families.

Sustainable Farming Trainings

Through the cooperative’s Sustainable Production Project, made possible with premiums, producers receive technical assistance in organic production. Technicians offer group and individual workshops and courses at “field schools,” where members participate in hands-on trainings, on their own farms.

The Sustainable Production Project’s goal is to teach producers how to implement more efficient agricultural practices so the cooperative can guarantee markets a uniform, high-quality product, and also promote the conservation of land within their sphere of influence. Project results have been significant with coffee production at one instance increasing 75 percent per hectare.

Decaffeination Process CO2 Process

This process is carried out by a company called CR3 Kaffeeveredelung Hermsen in Bremen, Germany.

This process is called CO2 Method, or Liquid Carbon Dioxide Method or Supercritical Carbon Dioxide method but it is technically known as supercritical fluid extraction. Some even call it C3R.

In basic terms - the supercritical CO2 acts selectively on the caffeine, releasing the alkaloid and nothing else. Water-soaked coffee beans are placed in an extraction vessel. The extractor is then sealed and supercritical CO2 is forced into the coffee at pressures of 1,000 pounds per square inch to extract the caffeine.

The CO2 acts as the solvent to dissolve and draw the caffeine from the coffee beans, leaving the larger-molecule flavor components behind. The caffeine-laden CO2 is then transferred to another container called the absorption chamber where the pressure is released and the CO2 returns to its gaseous state and evaporates, leaving the caffeine behind.

The caffeine is removed from the CO2 using charcoal filters, and the caffeine free CO2 is pumped back into a pressurized container for reuse on another batch of beans.
